Mrs. Oakley was born April 12, 1946 in Summerville, SC a daughter of the late James Henry and Mary Johnson. Jenny Mae worked for the Head Start program where she was a teacher’s assistant and bus driver for over 20 years. She loved the children she worked with. Mrs. Oakley was a southern belle type of lady who loved being at home, loved the royal family, and her trinkets.  She was a member of Hebron Methodist Church in McBee. The Johnson girls were known for singing, and Jenny Mae loved to sing in the church choir. Her dad nicknamed her "Jaybird", and her favorite color was red. Jenny Mae was a fighter who bravely battled multiple sclerosis and never complained about her illness. She enjoyed spending time with her grandson, Brandon, son-in-law, Wes, and daughter, Kathy, whom looked just like her, loved eating her niece Barbara Gore’s cooking, whom she referred to as Martha Stewart, and her greatest love was her grandson, Brandon, whom she adored. She was known as a “double barrel Johnson” to her family. Jenny Mae loved her late husband, Robert Oakley, with all of her heart and soul.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Oakley was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Oakley; brother, Rudolph Catoe, and sisters, Claudia Koon, Hazel Boyd, and Grace Hooker.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Walters, and her husband, Wes Walters, whom Jenny Mae loved like a son, of Middendorf, SC; loving grandson, Brandon Walters, of Middendorf, SC; sisters, Ida J. Powell, of Patrick, SC, Frances (Sonny) Dooley of Wilmington, NC, Henrietta McNeese of Montana; numerous nieces and nephews; and her feline baby, Bow.

During Mr. Bobby and Mrs. Jenny Mae’s battle with sickness, their nieces Barbara Gore, Dianne Byrd, and nephew, Robert “Robbie” Oakley, have been there every step of the way. They were always there to lend a hand and take care of Bobby and Jenny Mae with love and compassion. In addition the family would like to extend a big thank you to Jenny Mae's long time physician, Dr. Bell and Regency Southern Hospice for the compassionate and loving care shown to Mrs. Jenny Mae.
