Reverend Perry Thomas Self

Reverend Perry Thomas Self, Jr., age 77, entered into rest on Friday, July 1, 2022 at his home. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at Calvary Baptist Church by Reverend Jackie Bailey and Brent Taylor with special music being provided by his long-time friend, Reverend Tommy Moser. The committal service will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Monday, July 4, 2022 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Reverend Self was born October 5, 1944 in Jefferson, SC a son of the late Perry Thomas and Ola Johnson Self. He was a former truck driver with Cochran Steel of Matthews, NC before surrendering to the call to preach the gospel. Bro. Thomas pastored Rocky Creek Baptist Church of Jefferson and retired from Douglas Road Baptist Church of Lancaster. He was currently a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Jefferson, SC. A man who never met a stranger, Reverend Self enjoyed talking with his friends, fishing, and going out to eat. His greatest passion was sharing the good news of Jesus Christ to anyone and everyone.

In addition to his parents, Reverend Self was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Sue Mullis Self; brothers, Marvin, Crawford, and Oscar Self; sisters, Nina Griggs, and Dorothy Bradley; and great grandchild, Gabriel Cook.

Survivors include his children, Susan Self of Mt. Croghan, SC, Billy (Shannon) Self of Marion, OH, and Bobby (Dana) Self of Lancaster, SC; grandchildren, Amanda (James) Cook, Christy Self both of Mt. Croghan, SC, Sherri Levasseur of Monroe, NC, Chad Self of Greensboro, NC, Mason Self of Marion, OH, and Regan Self of Lancaster, SC; great grandchildren, Nick, Isabella, Olivia, Amber, Quincy, Destiny, Hannah Levasseur, Hayden Levasseur, and Milaya; brother, Wint (Faye) Self of New Bern, NC; sister, Zeata McGraw of Kershaw, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
