Mrs. Myrtle Jordan Thurman, age 96, entered into rest on Sunday, October 13, 2019 with her family by her side. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Cross Roads Baptist Church by Dr. Rick Henderson and Brent Taylor with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

Mrs. Thurman was born February 23, 1923 in Pageland, SC a daughter of the late Arthur L. and Martha Louise Hunter Jordan. She retired after working many years in the textile industry. A faithful member of Cross Roads Baptist Church, Mrs. Thurman held the distinct honor of being the oldest member of the church, and was also very active on the food committee throughout the years. She enjoyed time spent with her family, watching tv, and cooking. Myrtle was known for her delicious black walnut pound cakes, and was always faithful to deliver them to the sick and shut-in’s in the community.

The last surviving member of her immediate family, Mrs. Thurman was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Davis “Dave” W. Thurman; and siblings, Carson Jordan, Connie Jordan, Ward Jordan, Julius Jordan, Katie Lee McMurrain, Billie McManus, Van Jordan, Everett Jordan, and Evelyn MacAdams.

Survivors include her devoted daughter, Phyllis (Glenn) Johnson of Leland, NC; granddaughter, Meredith (Walt) Futch of Leland, NC; and great granddaughter whom she had a special bond with, Katie Futch; sister-in-law, Myrtle H. Jordan of Mt. Croghan, SC; brother-in-law,  Glenn MacAdams, of Pageland, SC; sister of the heart, Mildred Thurman of Ruby, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Prestwick Village and Morrison Manor for the love and care shown to Mrs. Thurman and her family.
