Mrs. Marcella Griggs Cheves, age 94, entered into rest on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Graveside services will be 3:00 PM Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Hickory Grove Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Jason Pope and Brent Taylor. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.

Mrs. Cheves was born April 1, 1926 in Marlboro County, SC a daughter of the late Lawrence and Julia Leviner Griggs. She was a retired employee of Burlington Industries with over 37 years of service and a faithful member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Cheves was a former Sunday school teacher, choir member, and was very active in the nursing home outreach ministry. She enjoyed working word search puzzles and spending time with her family. A renowned cook, Marcella was known for her delicious homemade biscuits.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cheves was also preceded in death by her husband, Horace N. Cheves; son, Wade Langdon Cheves; sisters, Mildred Webb, Julia English, Josephine Quick, Joyce Knight, and Lois Griggs; brothers, Paul Griggs, Thomas Griggs, Shorty Griggs, and L.C. Griggs; grandchildren, Lori Annette Bennett, and Tonya Denise Brock; and sons-in-law, Howard Brock, and Jack Bennett.

Survivors include her daughters, Lois Bennett, and Evelyn Brock both of Cheraw, SC; grandchildren, Lisa (Tim) Campbell of Chesterfield, SC, Wade Cheves of Wallace, SC, Scott Bennett, and Tommy (Melissa) Brock both of Cheraw, SC; great grandchildren, Tiffani Campbell, Noah Campbell, Lane Brock, and Kasey Brock; sister, Betty English of Wallace, SC; brother, Edwin Griggs of Wallace, SC; daughter-in-law, Sara Cheves of Wallace, SC; and generations of nieces and nephews.

A special thank you is given to Dr. Novinger and the staff of Palmetto Family Medicine, Melissa Russell, Sharon Coachmen, Lacey Lee, Jessica Blackwell and the entire staff of Regency SouthernCare Hospice, and her devoted daughter, Lois Bennett, and granddaughter, Tiffani Campbell for the excellent love, care and attention given to Mrs. Cheves.
