John William "J.W." Moore

Mr. John William “J.W.” Moore, age 91, entered into rest on Sunday, August 30, 2020 at his home. Graveside services will be 9:00 AM Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery by Brent Taylor. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.

Mr. Moore was born June 8, 1929 in Lexington, NC a son of the late Sampford Leonard and Ethel Jane Briggs Moore. He was a World War, II veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. J.W. was the founder and retired owner of Moore’s Drive-In. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed cattle farming and hunting.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Moore was also preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Rivers Moore; sister, Lyvonne M. Lear; and grandson, Kristopher John Basha.

Survivors include his daughter, Vicky Moore Basha of Florence, SC; granddaughter, Kathryn Lynne Basha; neighbors and close friends, Dean & Jo Curtis of Chesterfield, SC; nieces, Dianne Lear, Fran Lear, and Twilla Rivers all of Chesterfield, SC; and special caregivers, Wanda Dixon, Nena Stone, Hope Castor, and Shelley Webster.
