John J. Allred

Mr. John J. Allred, age 90, entered into rest on Wednesday, July 22, 2020. Graveside Services will be 9:00 AM Saturday, July 25, 2020 at the Chesterfield Cemetery by Rev. Joe Stroud.

Mr. Allred was born April 1, 1930 in Chesterfield County, SC, a son of the late Lorenzo and Grace Hoyle Allred. John will be remembered as a simple and humble man, a man who loved all sports, and for having a heart of gold. Football was his favorite sport to watch, and watching the news was a daily occurrence. Mr. Allred was always willing to help anyone in need.  A faithful member of Midway Baptist Church, John always acknowledged the best day of his life as the day he gave his heart to the Lord.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Allred was preceded in death by his wife, Tallie Allred; son, John L. “Dooney” Allred; sons-in-law, Steve Cobb and Charles Freeman; grandsons, John Everett Miller and Michael Lee Hartwick, Jr.

Survivors include his children, Cheryl M. (Ken) Miller of Cheraw, SC, Vicki Cobb of Parkville, MO, and Nancie E. Freeman of Cheraw, SC; grandchildren, Kenneth (Jill) Miller of Lexington, KY, Quentin Miller of Jacksonville, FL, Robb (Melissa) Hartwick of Orrick, MO, Phillip Allred of Cheraw, SC, Rachel Freeman of Cheraw, SC, and Cassandra T. Freeman of California City, CA; 6 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Midway Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1403, Cheraw, SC 29520.
