Mr. John “David” Johns, age 52, entered into rest on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at his home. A Celebration of Life Service will be 3:00 PM Friday, June 11, 2021 at Hopewell Baptist Church by Pastor Phil Wyatt with his closest friends eulogizing him, David Lisenby, Dewitt Lisenby, and Robbie Adams. The family will greet friends following the service in the fellowship hall of the church and other times at the home of his daughter, Courtney Rivers, 121 Redfearn Street, Chesterfield, SC.
Mr. Johns was born July 4, 1968 in Cocoa Beach, FL a son of the late Ralph E. and Virginia Kline Johns, Sr. He was a graduate of Chesterfield High School and a long-time member of Hopewell Baptist Church. David was very instrumental in installing and upgrading the audio and video systems in the new sanctuary. He enjoyed being a part of the Men’s Brotherhood and was active in VBS each year. Mr. Johns was a former employee of Frank’s Finer Foods and was also a volunteer with both the Brocks Mill Fire Department and the Chesterfield Rescue Squad. David enjoyed working in his yard, “tinkering” on old cars, and taking his girls to theme parks across the southeast.
Survivors include his daughters, Courtney (Josh) Johns Rivers, Casey Marie (Jeremy Sikes) Johns both of Chesterfield, SC; grandchildren, Jayda Faith Rivers, and Kynlee Blake Rivers; siblings, Dinah (Charles) Funderburk of Cheraw, SC, Jennifer (Trent) Lindsey of St. Paul, AK, and Ralph Eugene “Rocky” Johns, Jr. of Chesterfield, SC; numerous nieces and nephews; and his best friends & brothers of the heart, David Lisenby, Dewitt Lisenby, and Robbie Adams all of Chesterfield, SC.
