Mr. Gerald E. Pender, age 89, entered into rest on Wednesday, February 26, 2020. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Pine Grove Baptist Church by Pastor Mark Phillips with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday, February 28, 2020 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.
Mr. Pender was born September 9, 1930 in Chesterfield, SC a son of the late Elisha and Wilma Ruthven Pender. He was a graduate of Ruby High School and a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Pender was a former employee of Chesterfield Manufacturing and a retired sewing machine mechanic and an appliance repairman. Gerald enjoyed looking for deals on used appliances and was always willing to help anyone who stopped by. He could usually be found under the shade tree spending time with his dogs.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Pender was also preceded in death by 1 sister, Mildred P. Smith; brother-in-law, Ansel Smith; nephew, Daryll Smith; and daughter-in-law, Amy R. Pender.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Dot Eddins Pender of the home; children, Gerald “Wayne” Pender, Cindy P. (John) Beard both of Chesterfield, SC, and Shelia (Ricky) Hodges of Hartsville, SC; grandchildren, Walker Hodges and Pres Beard; and niece, Gale Creech of Chesterfield, SC.
