Mr. Fred “Crappie Man” Broome, age 82, entered into rest on Sunday, June 14, 2020. Graveside services will be 3:00 PM Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at Five Forks Cemetery by Brent Taylor. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.
Mr. Broome was born May 21, 1938 in Pageland, SC a son of the late Luther and Sarah Jackson Broome. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and a member of Union Hill Baptist Church. Fred was a former employee of Springs Industries and a retired employee of Conbraco Industries. He was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. He received the name, “Crappie Man” from his fishing buddies.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Broome was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Carol Williams Broome who passed on June 10, 2020; daughter, Amanda Broome; son-in-law, Ricky Mullis; brothers, Bill Broome, and Lonnie Broome; and sisters, Mary Alice Broome, and Betty Ruth Broome.
Survivors include his children, Lynn Mullis, Tim (Debbie Rollins) Broome both of Pageland, SC, and Glenn (Christine) Broome of Lugoff, SC; grandchildren, Joshua (Hope) Broome, Michael Harris, Taylor (Rae) Broome, Lucas Broome, Will Broome, and Sarah Broome; great-grandchildren, Canon and Lincoln; sister, Winnie Broome of Pageland, SC; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Catherine Williams, Gladys Broome, and Rachel (Harold) Outlaw, Lloyd (Sybil) Williams all of Pageland, SC, Mitchell (Mary) Williams of Lexington, SC, and Norvard (Margie) Williams of Pageland, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
