Mrs. Emma Mae Smith McLaurin, age 88, entered into rest on Sunday, July 26, 2020 with her family by her side. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 29, 2020 from the chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Rev. Julian Cato and Rev. Donald Wallace, Sr. with burial to follow in the Oakland Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, social distancing is requested.

Mrs. McLaurin was born September 29, 1931 in Chesterfield, SC a daughter of the late Robert J. and Dora Birtie Oliver Smith. She was a former employee of Glenn Manufacturing and Sacony Industries. Emma Mae was a faithful member of Oakland Baptist Church. Although she did not have biological children, Mrs. McLaurin loved spending time with and spoiling her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was a wonderful cook and will be fondly remembered as lady who never met a stranger, and to know her was to love her.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. McLaurin was also preceded in death by her husband, Ray Harold McLaurin; brothers, Ansel Smith, Robert L. “June” Smith, Thomas D. “T.D.” Smith, and William Perry “Doc” Smith; brother-in-law, Robert Lee Williams; niece, Carolyn Smith Rivers; and nephew, Daryl Smith.

Survivors include her sister, Margaret Williams of Chesterfield, SC; nieces and nephews, Angela (Robert) Riley, Kay (Don) Simmons, Tammy (Brad) Starnes, Larry (Teresa) Smith, Lisa Smith, Ann Melton, Gale Creech, Robert Timothy Williams, Larry (Angela) Diggs, and Wayne (Lana) Martin; numerous great nieces and great nephews including Angel Ray Riley; sister-in-law, Faye Treadaway of Morven, NC; and loving pet, “Princess.”

Memorials may be made to Oakland Baptist Church, 47 Oakland Church Rd, Chesterfield, SC 29709.
