Donnie Faye Boswell Griggs

Morven, NC

Donnie Faye Boswell Griggs entered into the arms of Jesus, May 26, 2021 at her home.  Born in Morven, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Johnny and Essie Deese Boswell.  Donnie Faye is best remembered for her years operating the Morven Drug Store which served the community as a place to gather, fellowship and enjoy a hand dipped cone of ice cream, a delicious milkshake or a cold fountain drink.  She also worked part-time at Huntley’s grocery before retiring to stay home and keep her grandson, Wesley, whom she adored and to be a homemaker.  Donnie Faye was a devoted wife to John Wesley “Nookie” Griggs for almost 60 years and served faithfully by his side through his years of service to the community; especially during his many years of service on the Morven Fire Dept.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  She shared her love deeply with all those in her life and her sweet smile and kind heart will leave a lasting impact on all who knew her.

Donnie Faye was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church in Morven and a member of the Sisters of the Savior in Chesterfield where she served with various mission projects over the years even helping as she could from her rocking chair when she could no longer attend the meetings.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Karen and son-in-law Chuck Helms whom she lived with, grandson Wesley, wife Kerry and great granddaughters Harper and Kensley who loved looking after “Nannie”.  She had one surviving brother, Alvin “Skeeter” Boswell of Ruby, sisters-in-law Brenda Boswell and Frances Griggs, many nieces and nephews many who affectionately called her “Aunt Sister”.  Donnie Faye was blessed to have several life long friends still sharing life with her especially Eleanor Williams and Ollie Mae Chewning.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Lessie and Leslie Smith, loving caretakers who helped her along this journey Home and Brenda Boswell who has been by her side helping care for her for the last six years.

Donnie Faye was preceded in death by her parents and husband listed above, brothers Robert “Pete” Boswell, Laurel “Dick” Boswell and Warren “Cooter” Boswell.
