Betty E. Crutchfield

Mrs. Betty E. Crutchfield, age 79, entered into rest on Friday, June 4, 2021 at her home. A Celebration of Life Service will be 4:00 PM Sunday, June 6, 2021 at Friendship United Methodist Church by Pastor Charles Teal and Brent Taylor. The family will greet friends following the service at the church.

Mrs. Crutchfield was born March 13, 1942 in La Crosse, VA a daughter of the late Shirley and Annie Hightower Ezell. She was a dental assistant with Dr. Funderburk Dentistry for over 45 years. Following Dr. Funderburk’s retirement, they both went to work practicing dentistry at Evans Correctional Institution in Bennettsville, until their final retirement. Betty was a faithful member of Friendship United Methodist Church. She enjoyed working in her beautiful flower gardens in her yard, reading, and spoiling her grandchildren. Betty’s favorite holiday was Christmas, and she enjoyed decorating, celebrating, and hosting family get togethers.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Crutchfield was also preceded in death by her sisters, Evelyn Bowers, and Janet Corum.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 61 years, Don Crutchfield of the home; daughters, Leslee (Alan) Knight of Columbia, SC, and Tonya (Todd) Whitaker of Kannapolis, NC; grandchildren, Hannah (Nick) Mock, Courtney Griggs, and Andrew (Sophie) Whitaker; great grandson, Nash Mock; siblings, Janice Evans of La Crosse, VA, Steve (Allison) Ezell of Concord, NC, and Junior (Pat) Ezell of Charlotte, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
