Mrs. Barbara Gail Williams Atkinson, age 84, entered into rest on Wednesday, October 2, 2019, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services will be 3:00 PM Saturday, October 5, 2019, from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Pastor Trey Thompson and Rev. Thomas Tillman with burial to follow in the Clanton Plains Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday, October 4, 2019, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

Mrs. Atkinson was born April 28, 1935, in Marietta, GA, a daughter of the late Ethel Louise Moss Turner and Homer Parks Williams. She was a retired nurse.  Mrs. Atkinson was a member of Hope Family Worship, and she loved the Lord and faithfully served him through her church.  Barbara enjoyed cooking, sewing, and loved her children.  She had lots of people she called her children whom she loved dearly.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Atkinson was also preceded in death by a daughter, Dawn Nicole Waldrop, a brother, Woodie Reggie Williams, and her step-father, Mark Twain Turner.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Eugene Atkinson of the home; children, Terri (Robert) Smith of Jasper, GA; Cathy (Gary) Peterson of St. Petersburg, FL, David (Dawn) Waldrop of  Ball Ground, GA, Michael Waldrop of Smyrna, GA, Jeffery Waldrop of Kingston, GA, Kimberly McCroskey of AL, Robin Ledford of Glencoe, AL, Beverly Arant of Pageland, SC, Bambi (Ron) Townsend of Cartersville, GA, Mary (Paul) Knight of Taylorsville, GA, and Penny (Steve) Eubanks of Heath Springs, SC; one step-daughter, Rhonda Mills of China Grove, NC;  34 grandchildren; and 40 great grandchildren.
