It is with heavy hearts that we remember and celebrate the life of Mr. Zaden Christian Bratsos, who tragically passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026, in Pageland, South Carolina, at the tender age of 16. Born on August 28, 2009, in Hartsville, South Carolina, Zaden brought light and joy to all who knew him.
A beloved son of Jessica Brooke Howard and Eric E. Chambers, and a caring brother to Zaelyn Chandler Bratsos, Zaden was cherished deeply by his family and friends. As a junior at Central High School, he was known for his love of all sports, especially basketball, where he and his friends would gather daily for hours of playing. Affectionately nicknamed “Twiggy” for his slender frame, Zaden embraced his passions wholeheartedly, including his journey toward becoming a barber—a pursuit that reflected his creativity through cutting hair and learning new styles.
Zaden’s amazing spirit touched many through his work at Polly’s Ice Cream and The Ball Theatre, where his kindness and ever-present smile brought happiness to those around him. He held a special bond with his grandparents, great grandmother, and many dear relatives who remain grateful for the lasting impact he made in their lives. Zaden was a true friend—a companion whose genuine nature and loving heart left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Though he is now reunited in heaven with his maternal great grandfather, George A. Bratsos, Jr., and paternal great grandmother, Irene Chambers, Zaden’s memory will forever be treasured by those he leaves behind. His loving parents, Jessica Brooke Howard and Eric E. Chambers; brother, Zaelyn Chandler Bratsos, and numerous other brothers and sisters; maternal grandparents, Ivy and Jeff Howard; maternal great grandmother, Doris Bratsos all of Pageland, SC.
He was also cherished by his aunts and uncles: Josh and Valeria Deese of Austin, Texas; Roy “Buck” Robinson and Judy (Jermaine) Robinson of Pageland; Shirley Chambers of New York; Jimmy “Pal” Collins and Terry Chambers of Pageland. Great aunts and uncles who supported him include Ermith and David “Beaver” Funderburk of Pageland; Pete and Marlene Bratsos of Cheraw, South Carolina; and George and Angie Bratsos of Springfield, Illinois.
He was thankfully cared for by his godmama, Natasha Horton of Kershaw, South Carolina, and her children, Chase and Devon Eason. Additionally, he was surrounded by the love of aunt Ashleigh West of Pageland and her children, Keelan, Destinee, Aubriel, and Makayah; godparents Megan and Jonathan Harris and their children, LaKoda and Kora. Lifelong special friends Christian Thomas and Colby Bullock shared in his journey, alongside his girlfriend, Cherish Chambers.
His memory continues to be embraced by numerous cousins, extended family, and many friends whose lives he touched deeply. The family expresses sincere gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this time.
A service celebrating Zaden’s life will take place at 3:00 PM on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Pageland First Baptist Church, with Dr. Joel Dale and Reverend Rodney Nicholson officiating, followed by burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall from 1:00 to 3:00 PM prior to the service, as well as at the home of Zaden’s grandmother at other times.
In honor of Zaden’s memory, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church at P.O. Box 126, Pageland, SC 29728. Additionally, commemorative shirts have been created and are available for purchase at Rivers Graphics of Pageland (843) 672-7801.
Though our hearts ache with his loss, we find comfort in remembering Zaden’s joyful spirit, his kindness, and the love he shared so freely. His life, though brief, was a bright and beautiful gift to all who knew him, and his legacy will forever live on in our hearts.
Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home (www.mrcfuneralhome.com) is serving the Bratsos family.
