Mr. William P. “Billy” Jones, Jr., age 75, of Patrick, South Carolina, passed away on November 18, 2025, at Regency Hospital of Florence, surrounded by his loving family. A visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at the family home, located at 7074 Hwy. 102, Patrick, SC, providing an opportunity for family and friends to share memories and celebrate his life.
Born on November 17, 1950, in Mullins, South Carolina, Mr. Jones was the son of the late William Paul Jones, Sr. and Harriet Burch Jones. He graduated from Lake View High School and furthered his education at the University of South Carolina. Mr. Jones dedicated nearly a decade of his life to law enforcement, serving with the Latta Police Department, Dillon Police Department, and the Dillon Sheriff’s Department from 1971 to 1980. Subsequently, he founded and successfully operated Fence-It of Cheraw and Fence-It of Florence for over 35 years until his retirement.
A faithful member of St. John Freewill Baptist Church, Mr. Jones was also involved with the Masonic Lodge and the Omar Shrine Temple. He cherished moments spent with family and friends at their lake home on Santee and was an avid NASCAR enthusiast.
Mr. Jones is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Melba Hurst Jones; his children, Courtney Moseley (Justin) of Nashville, Tennessee and her mother, Lynn Jones Corbett (Chris) of Dillon, South Carolina, and Nicolas Gulledge of Patrick, South Carolina. He took great pride in being “Pa-pa Billy” to his grandson Hunter Gulledge, a junior at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina. He is also survived by his sisters, Millicent Scease (David), Paula Radford, and Mary Ellen McMillan (Gib); brothers-in-law, Rodney Hurst (Tina) of Cheraw, South Carolina, and Kent Hurst (Jennifer) of Patrick, South Carolina; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John Freewill Baptist Church, c/o Shelby Bailey, 1213 St. John Church Road, Patrick, SC 29584, or to Camp Happy Days (www.camphappydays.org).
