Violet Louise Evans of Kingston, NY, a retired Rural Mail Carrier for the US Postal Service in Highland, NY and a lifelong area resident died Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at her home. She was 79.

The daughter of the late Tracy and Sarah Kilpatrick Evans, she was born June 26, 1943 in Santee, SC.

Violet had worked at Sullivan County BOCES as a teachers aid for special needs children before working for the Post Office. She displayed her artistic ability by drawing and painting. She had also spent time caring for the late Sally and Stanley Smith.

Survivors include five brothers, Tracy Evans and his wife Edna of Portsmith, VA, Harvey Evans and his wife Diane of Lewisville, OH, John Evans and his wife JoAnn of Roscoe, NY, Ronnie Evans and his wife Isabell of Roscoe, NY and Marion Evans and his wife Janet of Livingston Manor, NY; four sisters, Sarah Delosh and her husband Richard of Midway, TN, Dorothy Evans and her partner Jane Hoffman of Roscoe, NY, Kathryn Evans and her partner Sue Keeler of Wappinger Falls, NY and Serena Evans and her husband John Soltiz of East Meredith, NY; her partnerMary Ross of Kingston, NY; a sister-in-law, Loretta Evans; twenty-fivenieces and nephews,fifty great nieces and nephews, and eighteen great-great nieces and nephews;and her dog, Tina. She was predeceased by a sister, Anna Jo Carratello,a brother, Spencer Tracy Evans,and great-great nephews, CJ Evans and Alex Carratello.

Visitation will be Friday, August 5, 2022 from 1 PM until 2 PM in the Harris Funeral Home Railroad Ave., Roscoe, NY.

Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 1:30 PM Friday in the funeral home. The family will gather at the home of John and JoAnn Evans following the service.

Burial will be in the Evans-Spencer-Robeson Family Cemetery in Chesterfield, SC next week.
