Mrs. Vennie Ann Wilkerson Smith, age 86, entered into rest on Friday, March 27, 2026 at her home. The funeral service will be 4:00 PM on Monday, March 30, 2026 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Drake Horton and Brent Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Palmetto Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM-4:00 PM on Monday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Vennie was born on May 9, 1939 in Chesterfield, SC. She was a daughter of the late Walker Kelly Wilkerson and Joyce Crowley Wilkerson. Mrs. Smith was a member of Palmetto Baptist Church; she enjoyed flowers, making crafts, shopping and especially time spent with family.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Mitchell Huey Smith; infant grandson, Charles William Gooden; Brothers, Vernon Wilkerson, Owen Wilkerson; sisters, Masa Lee Wilkerson, Sylveria Wilkerson, Catherine Davis, Ivy Campbell, Hazel Cassidy, Annie Sue Gooden, Edith Wilkerson and her pet dog, “Maggie”.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty Jo (Jeff) Starnes; son, Charles (Patty Ann) Gooden, both of Patrick, SC; grandchildren, Chad Starnes, Scotty (Amber) Starnes, Paige (Jay) Kovalski, Jordan (Brandon) Gooden, Katie (Wylie) Gooden; great-grandchildren, Mason Starnes, Tanner Starnes, Tyler Starnes, Tinsley Kovalski, Bianca Kovalski, Arabella Kovalski; sister, Linda Gooden; first husband, Roy Gooden; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.

Heartfelt gratitude is extended to Linda Gooden, Michelle Gooden Duvall and Kelli Bryan and also to the doctors, nurses, staff of Crescent Hospice for their exceptional care of Mrs. Smith.
