          Mr. Thomas “Tommy” Edward Sims, age 71, entered into rest on December 30, 2023. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Middendorf Baptist Church by Pastor Beau Boyle and Mr. Phil Arrants with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM prior to the service at the church.

 

          Mr. Sims was born October 15, 1952 in Mt. Croghan, SC a son of the late Lawson and Gladys Deese Sims. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in the 182nd Airborne Division in Germany and a retired employee of H & K Interiors with over 30 years of service. A faithful member of Middendorf Baptist Church, Tommy loved the Lord and taking care of God’s house. He not only served on the building and grounds committee but was always helping out in any area possible. He also enjoyed hunting turkey and deer, growing flowers, and cooking.

 

          In addition to his parents, Mr. Sims was also preceded in death by an infant son; brother, L.J. Sims; sister, Linda Fay Sims; children, Robert Maurice Raffaldt, Fredrick Russell Raffaldt, and Teresa Annette Huen; and great grandchildren, Stoney Bond Dunmore, and Elaina Wilson.

 

          Survivors include his wife, Renee Sims of the home; children, Cindy Holden of Chesterfield, SC, and Susan Raffaldt of Mt. Croghan, SC; siblings, Owen Ted (Mildred) Deese of Pageland, SC, Dorothy “Dot” (Jack) Rich of Greensboro, NC, Wayne (Louise) Sims of Mt. Croghan, SC, and Frances Sims Eason of Pageland, SC; grandchildren of the home, Victoria “Tori” Bond (Blake), and McDaniel “Mac” Bond, Shannon (Charlie) Heun, Bobby (Stacy) Richardson, David (Ashley) Treece, Jessica (Jonathan) Wilson, Cynthia (Ty) Stroud, Kayla (Mikey) Wongittlin, Zach Raffaldt, Lilly Grooms, Stephanie (Stas) Catoe, Eric Raffaldt, Alex Raffaldt, and Candice (Bradley) Sibley.

and numerous great grandchildren.

 

          Memorials may be made to Middendorf Baptist Church, 2202 Middendorf Church Rd, Hartsville, SC 29550.
