Mr. Scott D. "Skillet" Whitaker, age 59, entered into rest on Saturday morning, February 18, 2023 at the McWhorter Hospice House of Union County with his family by his side. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4:00 PM Thursday, February 23, 2023, at the home, 7245 Shiloh Unity Road, Lancaster, SC.

         

          Mr. Whitaker was born October 6, 1963 in Lancaster, SC a son of the late Johnny William Whitaker and Patricia “Patsy” Sinclair Whitaker. Skillet attended Buford High School and was a proud Yellow Jackets fan. He was a very talented carpenter who could design and build anything. An avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Clemson Tigers, Skillet also enjoyed watching NASCAR and fishing.

 

          In addition to his parents, Mr. Whitaker was also preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Nelson “Pimper” Whitaker; aunts, Rachel Adams, and Janice Snipes; uncles, Kevin Lisenby, and Ray Adams; and nephew, Rocky Whitaker.

 

          Survivors include his daughter, Candace Whitaker of Pageland, SC; son, Mitchell Whitaker of Pageland, SC; sister, Crystal Whitaker of Gastonia, NC; brother, Jevin (Tina) Whitaker of Mt. Croghan, SC; sister-in-law, Bonnie Kimmer of Lancaster, SC; nieces, Misty (Kyle) Crenshaw of Kershaw, SC, Chassity Whitaker of Lancaster, SC, and Blair Black of Mt. Croghan, SC; nephew, Johnathan (Morgan) Whitaker of Marshville, NC; aunts, Mildred Hefner, Freida Helms, Judy Sinclair, and Sonya Rivers; uncles, Charles Sinclair, Danny “Buck” Sinclair, and Timothy “Zeke” Sinclair; special cousin where he resided at, Carla Patrick of Lancaster, SC; his fishing buddies, Ben Massey and the Griffin boys; and numerous cousins.

 

          The family would like to thank the administration and staff of the McWhorter Hospice House of Union County for the excellent care provided to Skillet and their family and recommends for those wishing to make a donation in his memory to direct them to, Hospice of Union County, c/o The McWhorter Hospice House, 700 W Roosevelt Blvd, Monroe, NC 28110
