Scarlet Funderburk Moore

Ms. Scarlet Funderburk Moore, age 62, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, August 13, 2026 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Sunday, August 16, 2026 at Palmetto Baptist Church by Rev. Drake Horton and Bro. Jerry Gainey with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM Sunday, prior to the service at the church.

Ms. Moore was born February 2, 1964 in Chesterfield, SC a daughter of the late Robert J. and Barbara Whittington Funderburk. She was a former employee of INA Bearing and a former home health nurse with Priority One Home Health Services. Her heart of being a caregiver was seen in taking care of her sister, Missy and her parents. She also enjoyed working in the yard and taking care of her home. Scarlet was a member of Palmetto Baptist Church and enjoyed playing the piano. A lady known for her sacrificial heart, Scarlet is remembered for her selflessness and willingness to help others. A devoted mother and loving "Gan-Gan," she took great pride in her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Moore was also preceded in death by her sister, Melissa “Missy” Funderburk Wallace; and nephew, Travis Dale Rivers.

Survivors include her husband of 15 years, Matt Carpenter of the home; children, Melissa Moore (Josh) Winburn, and Trent Moore both of Patrick, SC; grandchildren, Leyton Bennett, Fallen Winburn, and Koah Winburn; sister, Dena Funderburk (Jerry) Gainey of Chesterfield, SC; brother, Robbie (Dawn) Funderburk of Ruby, SC; mother-in-law, Elaine Carpenter of Hartsville, SC; nephew, Cody Funderburk of Ruby, SC; niece, Jennifer Rivers of Chesterfield, SC; special aunts, Sue Southard, and Carolyn (Al) Tyner both of Patrick, SC in addition to numerous other extended family.

Although our hearts are broken, we find great comfort in knowing that Scarlet is home with the Lord and reunited with so many loved ones. In her final days, she repeatedly told her loved ones, "I am ready to go see Jesus!"  

The family would like to express a special thank you to home health nurses, Brooke, Jessica, Tabitha, Hannah, and the entire CenterWell Home Health staff, and also to the staff of Gentiva Hospice of Chesterfield for their excellent care and support provided.
