On Tuesday, April 9, 2024, Mrs. Sadie Swaringen Eddins, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away at Atrium Health Anson. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, April 12, 2024 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Pastor Ronald Thurman and Brent Taylor with the committal service to follow in the New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery officiated by Reverend Joe Railton. The family will greet friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Friday prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Eddins was born January 5, 1944 in the Cottonville Community of Stanley County, NC, a daughter of the late Walter Crowell and Lessie Tucker Swaringen. She retired from Carolina Elementary School cafeteria in Hartsville, SC. Sadie loved her family deeply and enjoyed spending time with each one, especially on Sundays when she cooked for them. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the apple of her eye. She was so proud and thankful to hold her newest great-grandbaby, born just two weeks ago. In her words, “They are all Nanny’s babies!”
Sadie fought an intensive battle with lung and brain cancer. By God's miraculous touch, she went into remission in 2023. Her family is grateful for this miracle and the extra time they were given by God.
Sadie was married to the love of her life, Joe, for nearly 63 years. Not a day went by without their display of love and devotion to one another, even in the end!
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Eddins was reunited in heaven with her precious daughter, Penny Jo Lynn Eddins.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of nearly 63 years, Joe Eddins; children, Tammy (Roger) Rhynes, Joe “Lil’ Joe” Eddins, Jr., Jeff Eddins, and Jason (Amy) Eddins; grandchildren, Lacy (Lane) Sellers, Josey Rhynes, Judd Eddins, and Isaac Eddins; great grandchildren, Avery and Cutter; sisters, Marie Fenters, and Rachel Swaringen.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Levine Cancer Institute where she received treatment, 1021 Morehead Medical Dr, Charlotte, NC 28204
Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home (www.mrcfuneralhome.com) of Chesterfield, SC is serving the Eddins family.
