Mr. Rufus Jackson Ussery, 72, of Ruby, SC passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at his home.

Mr. Rufus Jackson Ussery was born on February 19, 1948 in Wadesboro, North Carolina to the late Rufus Ussery and Viola Stafford Ussery. He is preceded in death by his son, R. J. Ussery Jr.; step-mother, Blanche Ussery and two brothers.

Mr. Jack Ussery worked as a truck driver, then he worked with SC DOT for 11 years before retiring. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, watching western movies, especially "Gunsmoke" and doing carpenter work. Mr. Ussery enjoyed listening to southern gospel and old classic country music. He enjoyed talking on his CB radio with his buddies, where his name was "Tweety Bird". He loved to relax and smoke.

Mr. Ussery is survived by his loving wife, Betty Jo Ussery of Ruby, SC; daughters, Angel Melton (Casey) of Mt. Croghan, SC and Joann Turner of Ruby SC; sister, Mary Smith of Patrick, SC; grandchildren, Brandon Honeycutt (Bree), David Miles (Erika) and Nicole Pegues and special niece, Tonya Dixon.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM at Baumgartner Funeral Home on Thursday, December 10, 2020.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Baumgartner Funeral Home with Rev. Brandon Honeycutt officiating. Burial will follow at Grace & Mercy Worship Center, Chesterfield, SC (formerly known as Bethesda United Methodist Church).

Due to the government-mandated, COVID-19 restrictions, we ask that you practice social distancing at all times. The family would like for all attending the service to please wear a face covering.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to McLeod Center for Cancer Treatment and Research, 800 East Cheves St., Suite 150, Florence, SC 29506.
