          Reverend Rocky Dean Tyner, age 66, went to his heavenly home on Monday, January 15, 2024 at Regency Hospital in Florence, SC. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Friday, January 19, 2024 from the chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home with a service of committal to follow in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Friday prior to the service at the funeral home.

          Rev. Tyner was born October 27, 1957 in Gastonia, NC a son of the late Rev. Everett “Buzzy” and Frances “Bobbie” Hyde Tyner. Rocky Received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army National Guard in Fort Mill, SC. He attended the Church of Life in Wallce, SC. Rocky worked for the Dream Maker Tours and Lancaster Tours for many years as a tour bus driver. He loved the Lord and was always talking with others about God and his Faith. Rocky never met a stranger and loved people. He loved his family and friends so much. He loved to joke and make people laugh. He was passionate about politics. Rocky loved Christmas and enjoyed watching Christmas movies. He always said “you can never have too many Christmas lights.” His favorite bible verse was Jeremiah 33:3 “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”  

          In addition to his parents, Rev. Tyner was also preceded in death by his brother, William Rayford Tyner; sister, Sherril Elders; nephew, Jack “J.D.” Elders and Jack’s wife, Jennifer Elders.

          Survivors include his beloved wife of 45 years, Wanda Collins Tyner of the home; son, Phillip Dean Tyner of Cheraw, SC; daughters, Tiffany Gall Tyner of Cheraw, SC, Candie M. (Rev. Grant R., III) Gleason of Cheraw, SC; grandchildren, Westley Dean Tyner, Grant R. “Little G” Gleason IV, Grayson Gleason, Brandyn Tyner, Gaverick Gleason; brothers, Eddie (Janice) Tyner of Mountville, SC, Rev. Tony (Connie) Tyner of Cheraw, SC, Rev. James (April) Tyner of Cheraw, SC; sister, Starr (Rev. Jamie) Wade of Laurens, SC; numerous nieces and nephews; and his extended family at Church of Life.

          The family would like to express their gratitude to Cheraw Healthcare, Fresenius Kidney Care of Cheraw, Dr. Maqsood, Dr. Biester, Caresouth of Chesterfield, Mcleod Health Cheraw, Regency Hospital of Florence, Med One Transport, and special friend, Eric for their care of Rocky.
