Mr. Rickey L. Jenkins, age 71, peacefully entered into rest on Monday, May 5, 2025 with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Liberty Hill Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Mack Mullis. Following the service, Mr. Jenkins will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. The family invites friends to join them for a time of visitation in the church fellowship hall after the burial.

Rickey was born January 23, 1954 in Monroe, NC a son of the late Cecil Lee Jenkins and Mary Helen Demby Jenkins. He was a 1972 graduate of Pageland High School and a retired employee of Sandhill Telephone Company. He was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church, the Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge # 58 of Pageland, SC, and the Sandhill Shrine Club.

Rickey was well known for his ability to fix just about anything. He would say “Well, I’ve never worked on one, but I'll be glad to look at it”, and “it” always got fixed. He truly was a jack of all trades and had mastered many. Always ready to lend a helping hand, many benefitted from his generous heart. After being thanked for a repair, his normal response was “You don’t owe me anything, I might get you to help me one day.”

Rickey’s strong work ethic and attention to detail were traits that defined him, and he led by example. Dedicating over 33 years to Sandhill Telephone, he started installing and repairing. His eagerness to learn new skills took him to many different positions at Sandhill, where he developed countless dear, lifelong friendships.

Before his battle with cancer, and with a happy heart, he enjoyed volunteering many years with SC Baptist Disaster Relief with the Chain Saw team. He also helped roof houses with the Chesterfield Baptist Association. When he wasn’t working on something, he enjoyed being outside where he spent countless hours maintaining his well-manicured lawn. Rickey was dedicated to not only his immediate family, but his extended family as well. His passing leaves a huge void in our lives, as well as for all that knew and loved him. He was truly one of a kind.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Jenkins was also preceded in death by his brother, Billy Jenkins.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Karen Chapman Jenkins of the home; son, Ethan Richard Jenkins of Tobaccoville, NC; siblings, Ronnie (Glendora) Jenkins of Jefferson, SC, Kathy (Ricky) Atkinson of Pageland, SC, and Ann (Chris) Cabaniss of Waxhaw, NC; sister-in-law, Barbara S. Jenkins of Jefferson, SC; aunts, Betty Jo Leaird, Doris Laney, and Lorraine Jenkins all of Pageland, SC; in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, and countless cousins.
