Richard Lee Townsend

Ruby, SC

     Mr. Richard Lee Townsend, age 78, entered into rest on Thursday, November 25, 2022. The family will host a time of remembrance on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Mt. Croghan-Ruby American Legion, 19537 SC109 Mt. Croghan, SC 29727.  

     Mr. Townsend was born May 6, 1944 in Grass Valley, CA a son of the late Clifford and Laura Johnson Townsend. After serving in the Navy, Mr. Townsend went on to become a welder and mechanic. Richard enjoyed fishing and playing cards with his loved ones. Mr. Townsend was most known for being an incredible husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.

     In addition to his parents, Richard was also preceded in death by his brother, Carl Townsend.

     Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Ellen Townsend of the home; daughters, Jennifer (Bubba) Renegar of Ruby, SC, Jody Townsend (William) Soulder of Easley, SC; grandchildren, Tiffany Townsend, Richard Townsend II, Amy Morris, Dylan Renegar, Amy (Tony) Gribay, Royce Renegar; great-grandchildren, Abigale, Ryder, Mason, Elijah, Nathaniel, Dani, Ari, Mael, Haile, Hadley; brothers, Ralph Townsend, Bill Townsend; and numerous nieces and nephews.
