Born on January 9, 1934, in Chesterfield, SC, Mr. Davis was the son of the late Acy Lee Davis and Sue Lee King Davis Harmon. He graduated from Chesterfield High School in 1954 and subsequently served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Davis retired as an outside plant supervisor with Sandhill Telephone Cooperative, where he dedicated 37 years of service. His commitment to helping others began during his high school years at the local funeral home, where he had the distinct honor of working under each owner, including Rudolph Hursey, Tom Miller, Don Rivers, Phillip and Yetive Caulder, and most recently, Brent and Brooke Taylor for the past nine years.

Beyond his working career, Mr. Davis was a dedicated volunteer within his community. He joined the Chesterfield Fire Department in 1959, achieving honorary lifetime membership. A lifetime member of Chesterfield Masonic Lodge #220, he recently earned his 60-year pin. He was also affiliated with the Woodmen of the World Lodge 516. A faithful member of Shiloh Methodist Church, Dicky was very active in the Men’s club, a member and former president of the New Hope Sunday school class, a former leader and counselor for the Shiloh Methodist Youth Fellowship and served on the Pastor Parish committee in addition to numerous other committees throughout the years. He was always active with any event at the church that involved cooking. Dicky was particularly known for his “World Famous” grilled BBQ chicken with a recipe that only he could master.

His legacy as a mentor and leader in the community was evident through his upbringing of many children alongside his late wife, Jean Gardner Davis. An avid and accomplished outdoorsman, Mr. Davis enjoyed bicycling, deer hunting, and fishing. He was a familiar sight in his golf cart, always greeting neighbors with a smile and accompanied by his beloved Boykin spaniel. He also cherished moments spent cruising through Twin Harbor Campground, where he and "Jax" developed many friendships.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his stepfather, George L. "Pal" Harmon, Sr.; his beloved wife of 41 years, Jean Gardner Davis; sister Donna Davis Hurst; great grandson, Elijah Demby; special friend Shirley B. Douglas; and his cherished Boykin spaniel, "Co-Co” that now is resting between his feet perpetually.

Mr. Davis is survived by his daughter, Martha "Motsy" (Timmy) Hill of Mt. Gilead, NC; grandsons Josh (Brandy) White of Cheraw, SC, and Dylan Price of Patrick, SC; great-grandchildren Hannah (Shawn) Gopaul of Pageland, SC, Joseph White of Florence, SC, and Harlee White of Cheraw, SC; and great-great-grandchild Oakley Gopaul of Pageland, SC. He is also survived by his brother Acy Lee Davis of Chesterfield, SC; grandson of the heart Drew (Ashley) Kimery and their son Wade of Cheraw, SC; special friends Brenda & Allan Lookado of Cheraw, SC; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and his best friend and faithful companion, "Jax"
