Reverend Ralph H. Jacobs, Sr.

Reverend Ralph H. Jacobs, Sr., age 90, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at his home. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Tuesday, October 20, 2020 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Rev. Jerry Watson and Brent Taylor with burial to follow in the St. John Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM Tuesday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Funeral Services will be live-streamed on the Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Facebook page beginning at 3:00 PM Tuesday.

Rev. Jacobs was born October 2, 1930 in Anson County, NC a son of the late Spofford Anson and Essie Lee Davis Jacobs. He was a graduate of Coker College where he received his B.A. degree, and went on to attain his Masters of Divinity degree from Duke University Divinity School. Rev. Jacobs was ordained in the Methodist faith and served numerous churches for over 20 years. In 1996, he was ordained as a Baptist minister and served as Pastor of Ruby Baptist Church for 14 years. Following his retirement, Preacher Ralph was named Pastor Emeritus of Ruby Baptist Church.

Rev. Jacobs loved serving others and sharing the love of God with all he came in contact with. His hobbies, outside of the ministry, included playing golf with close friends, fishing, and hunting. He also enjoyed gardening, raising chickens, and woodworking.

In addition to his parents, Rev. Jacobs was also preceded in death by his son, John Mark Jacobs; brother, Richard Scott Jacobs, Sr.; and sister, Barbara Jacobs Campbell.

Survivors include his loving wife of 70 years, Novella McLain Jacobs of the home; sons, Ralph Hubert (Debbie) Jacobs, Jr. of Cheraw, SC, and Martin Scott (Paula) Jacobs of Chesterfield, SC; grandchildren, Tish (Jamie) Campbell, Tara Jacobs, Trina (Ashley Phillips) Jacobs, Tamara (Adam) Lundy, Drew Jacobs, Ana-Hayley Jacobs, Caleb (Jasmine) Jacobs, Graham Jacobs, Luke Jacobs, Dorothy “Dottie” Jacobs, and Emma Jacobs; 13 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; brother, Anson (Rebekah) Jacobs of Cheraw, SC; sister-in-law, Janice H. Jacobs of Cheraw; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their thanks to special caregivers, Marlene Hernandez, Julick Deese, and Lisa Hodge for their excellent care, love, and support shown to Rev. Jacobs and the family.
