Reverend T. Wayne Chapman, age 79, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, August 23, 2026 at the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 26, 2026 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Dr. Arlie Cole. The family will greet friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Wednesday, prior to the service at the funeral home. A private burial will be held in the Edward’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.


Reverend Chapman was born March 12, 1947 in Society Hill, SC a son of the late Coit Chapman, Jr. and Cleo Elizabeth Keith Chapman. He was a graduate of Cheraw High School and a U.S. Army Veteran. After accepting God’s call on his life to full-time ministry, Bro. Wayne attended Tabernacle Bible College in Greenville, SC. He served as pastor of both Faith Community Baptist Church and New Hope Baptist Church during his ministry. The will of God for his life was made clear when he along with his devoted wife, Carolyn founded the New Hope Ranch for Girls Home in Society Hill, SC. For over 30 years, Bro. Wayne faithfully served as Director of the home in addition to representing the ministry to countless churches seeking mission support. In his later years, he enjoyed attending local churches always seeking to encourage and support the local pastors. Bro. Wayne was a talented carpenter who could design and build anything. In his brief amount of spare time, he enjoyed fishing.


In addition to his parents, Reverend Chapman was also preceded in death by his daughter, Connie Newton; grandson, Brayden Hatchell; brothers, Terry Chapman, Steve Chapman; sister, Joyce Allen; and his son-in-law, Brian Johnson.


Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Carolyn Chapman; children, Sandy Johnson of Walnut Cove, NC, Troy Wayne (Heather) Chapman, Jr., Ashley Floyd, Molly Chapman, and Logan Chapman all of Society Hill, SC; grandchildren, Hannah (Dylan) Williams, Andrew (Kayla) Johnson, Summer Johnson, Saige Chapman, Adia Price, Hillary Owens, and Brandon Newton; great grandchildren, Harper Williams, and Dawson Williams; sisters, Jean Parker of Society Hill, SC, and Sylvia (Gary) Acosta of CA; brother, Calvin (Sharon) Chapman of Charleston, SC; sister-in-law, Nancy Chapman of Morven, NC; numerous nieces and nephews, in addition to the countless honorary grandchildren that passed through the ministry of New Hope Ranch who affectionately referred to them as “G-Pa” and “G-Ma.”
