Mrs. Peggy Jean Melton Johnson, age 85, entered into rest on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family. A private family graveside service will be held at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery by Hospice Chaplain, Rev. Jim McLure.

Mrs. Johnson was born July 31, 1935 in Charlotte, NC a daughter of the late Flora Jane Melton. She was a retired employee of Weller Industries and a loving homemaker. Peggy enjoyed spending time with her family, watching westerns, and listening to the “classic style” country music.

In addition to her mother, Mrs. Johnson was also preceded in death by her husband, Winston F. Johnson; an infant daughter; and her brother, Jack Melton.

Survivors include her children, James A. (Clara S.) Howard of Greer, SC, Maxie A. (Lisa Polson) Johnson of Cheraw, SC, Winston F. Johnson, Jr. of Grand Forks, ND, C. Eugene Johnson, and William B. (Cindi R.) Johnson both of Cheraw, SC; grandchildren, Wendy (Steve) Ziegler of Cheraw, SC, Christopher Johnson of Colorado, Kelli Nicole Johnson of Cheraw, SC, Melissa “Missy” (Mike) Phillips of Morven, NC, Casandra “Cassie” Johnson of North Dakota, Ryan P. Howard of Greer, SC, Ashley Johnson of Morven, NC, and Aria Johnson of Cheraw, SC; and numerous great grandchildren.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Agape Hospice for their excellent care and support shown to Mrs. Johnson and the family.
