Mrs. Gilbert was born September 28, 1947 in Chesterfield, SC, a daughter of the late Paul Edward and Patricia Douglas Snipes. She was a graduate of Chesterfield High School. After her marriage to John Gilbert, she moved to Charlotte, NC where Patsy was employed with Charlotte Memorial Hospital. They later moved to Flagstaff, AZ, before returning home to Chesterfield, SC to be closer to family. Patsy was a lifelong member of Douglas Mill Baptist Church. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed several years serving ice cream to the children of the Chesterfield and Cheraw area from her ice cream truck, and was lovingly known as “the ice cream lady.”
In addition to her parents, Patsy was also preceded in death by her husband, John Gilbert, and brother-in-law, Donald Baker.
Survivors include her daughter: Tamara (Paul) Barefoot of Patrick, SC; son: Phillip (Wendy) Gilbert of North Myrtle Beach, SC; 3 sisters: Becky (Gene) Marsh, Cathy Baker (Jimmy Sellers), and Alice (Ricky) Todd all of Chesterfield, SC; 3 grandchildren: Savannah Barefoot, Sierra Barefoot, and Dylan Oliver; and nieces and nephews: Daniel (Erin) Marsh, Rachel (Shawn) Cheema, Richard (Susan) Todd, Bridget (Charlie) Hubbell, Sarah (Brandon) Downer, and Adrienne (Kedar) Brown.
