Cheraw, SC Mrs. Oneida McDuffie Chewning, age 86, died Thursday at her home.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church.

INTERMENT: to follow in the Church Cemetery


VISITATION: 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. Friday, November 9, 2012 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

HISTORY: Mrs. Chewning was born March 21, 1926 in Cheraw, SC a daughter of the late Lewis Oscar and Mary Jane Adams McDuffie. She was a graduate of Cheraw High School and a retired dietician with Chesterfield County School System. Oneida was also cashier at the Country Kitchen, which she enjoyed very much. She was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church where she was a member of the UMW, and was also a volunteer at Chesterfield General Hospital. Oneida enjoyed sewing, baking, playing dominoes, and being a member of the Senior Circle. In addition to her parents, Oneida was also preceded in death by her husband, Hector W. Chewning; a grandson, Dale Owen; and by her three brothers, Otis, Wade, and Talmadge McDuffie.

2 Daughters: Mary Ellen (Rock) Stone of Chesterfield, SC and Teresa (Tom) Owen of Cheraw, SC
5 Grandchildren: Rodney Stone, Laurie S. Tarleton, Summer Rhyne, Cody Chewning, and Deidra Owen
