Mrs. Nancy McLain Perdue, age 85, affectionately known to many as “Nanny,” peacefully passed away on June 2, 2026 at the home of her granddaughter of the heart, Lanaia, in Batesburg, South Carolina. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, June 5, 2026 at Patrick Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Grover Johnson, with burial to follow at Patrick Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Thursday, June 4, 2026 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.
Born on September 4, 1940, in Patrick, South Carolina, Nancy was the daughter of the late Ernest and Ruth Turnage McLain. She graduated from Cheraw High School and Palmer College in Columbia. Mrs. Perdue was formerly the office manager at Chesterfield General Hospital and owned and operated a trucking company alongside her late husband. She would often tell the story of how she would drive the 18-wheeler to let her husband sleep, to which he would reply, I never slept!
A devoted and faithful member of Patrick Baptist Church, Nancy served diligently on various church committees throughout the years. She deeply loved the Lord, her family, and her “Preacher.”
Nancy enjoyed traveling with Lanaia and Anne. From mountain trips to cruises making memories with her girls.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James "Pete" Perdue; her parents; and her siblings, Ernestine Watson, John Duncan “J.D.” McLain, and Sara Lajeunesse.
Nancy is lovingly remembered by her granddaughter of the heart, Lanaia Rabon Wood, her husband Charlie, and their son Hunter of Batesburg, SC; daughter of the heart, Anne Rabon Reynolds and husband Terry of Gilbert, SC; in addition to numerous other cherished nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors, and her beloved Patrick community.
The family extends sincere gratitude to long-time caregiver, Patsy Wood, and the staff of MSA Hospice of Irmo for their exceptional care and support.
In lieu of flowers and honoring Nancy’s love for her church, memorials may be made to Patrick Baptist Church, 177 Polson Street, Patrick SC 29584
