Nan Ray Riley

Chesterfield, SC

Mrs. Nan Ray Riley, age 88, entered into rest on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at her home with her family by her side. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, Charlotte, NC. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.

Mrs. Riley was born July 13, 1935 in Texarkana, TX a daughter of the late Havis and Florence Rouse Malcom. Nan will be remembered for her happy and nurturing spirit. She was a light to her community who would care for those in need. Mrs. Riley enjoyed the little things in life such as riding around to observe the countryside and a good cheeseburger. Nan’s favorite hobby was coin collecting. She also liked cooking and watching westerns, especially anything starring John Wayne. Mrs. Riley loved animals and spoiling her dogs, Ruby and Buddy. Above all else Nan was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.   

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Riley was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard Riley; daughter, Penny Prince; and sister, Lavern McManus.

Survivors include her children, Mike (Teresa) Riley of Indian Trail, NC, Debbie (Bob) Lynn of Charlotte, NC, Robert (Angela) Riley of Chesterfield, SC; grandchildren, Debbie Spry, Jessica Ortiz, Angel Riley, Candice Prince; six great-grandchildren; sister, Nina Jo Tarlton of Marshville, NC; numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials in Mrs. Riley’s honor can be made to the Chesterfield County Animal Shelter, 436 Goodale Rd., Chesterfield, SC 29709.
