Mickey Hurst

Mr. Mickey E. Hurst, age 86, entered into rest on Friday, March 20, 2026 at his home. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, March 23, 2026 at Thompson Creek Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Ronnie Grizzle and Brent Taylor with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service at the church.

Mr. Hurst was born on October 15, 1939 in Chesterfield, SC the son of the late Isom Harley and Carolyn Graves Hurst. For over twenty years, Mickey was a dedicated member of Thompson Creek Baptist Church, where he formerly served as a deacon. He spent much of his career on the road as a truck driver for Pilot Freight before enjoying a well-earned retirement. An outdoorsman at heart, Mr. Hurst found peace tending to his garden and expressed his creativity as a talented woodworker. Above all, his favorite pastime was playfully "giving a hard time" to his beloved wife, Mrs. Peggy.

In addition to his parents, Mickey was preceded in death by his siblings, Richard “Buck” Rhynes, Jerry Hurst, Rita Melton; and step-father, Clyde Rhynes.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Peggy G. Hurst of the home; son Shane (Denise) Hurst of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Robin (Ronnie) Brown of Blews Creek, NC; grandchildren, Andrew (Kimberly), Matthew, Ben (Bethany), Danielle, Jessica, Sarah; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Chloe, Ethan, Wyatt; sisters, Patsy Mills of Chesterfield, SC, Betty Wilkerson of Chesterfield, SC; sisters-in-law, Elaine Rhynes of Chesterfield, SC, Linda Hurst of Chesterfield, SC, Pat (Cam) Locklear of Chesterfield, SC, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Thompson Creek Baptist Church, 3403 Womble Hill Rd, Chesterfield, SC 29709; or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).
