Mary Sue Brittain Sweatt

Chesterfield, SC

Mrs. Mary Sue Brittain Sweatt, age 79, entered into rest on Monday, July 4, 2022. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Holland Funeral Service & Crematory in Monroe, NC. The family will greet friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Sweatt was born February 4, 1943 Norfolk, VA a daughter of the late Lewis and Mary Melton Brittain. She worked for many years in education as a teacher’s assistant and secretary in North Carolina public schools. Sue was a true “people person” who cherished time spent with family and friends. She loved being a grandmother and spoiling her grandchildren. It was hard to keep a straight face around Sue, as she was always making jokes and laughing. Sue was a wonderful cook, caregiver, and “taxi driver” for her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sweatt was also preceded in death by her sister, Kay Brittain.

Survivors include her children, Joy (Jim) Odom of Chesterfield, SC, Scott (Amy) Sweatt of Matthews, NC, Chris (Nikki) Sweatt of Crestview, FL, Bill Bryant of Wilson, NC; grandchildren, Tate and Charlsy Sweatt both of Crestview, FL, Madison and Tanner Sweatt both of Matthews, NC; and sister, Beverly (Lewis) Carpenter of Cramerton, NC.
