Mary Rhynes Boan

Chesterfield, SC

Ms. Mary Rhynes Boan, age 72, entered into rest on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at Hospice Haven of Rockingham. A Celebration of Life service will be 4:00 PM Sunday, November 20, 2022 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder by Pastor Mike Phares and Brent Taylor. The family will greet friends from 3:00 – 4:00 PM Sunday, prior to the service at the funeral home. A private family committal service will be held at a later date in the Morven Cemetery.

Ms. Boan was born November 10, 1950 in Chesterfield, SC a daughter of the late John Mitchell Rhynes and Doris Griggs Rhynes. She was a retired employee of Warden & Smith and a former employee of The Cheraw Chronicle, and Anson Record for many years. Mary was a member of Westfield Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed attending Ebenezer United Methodist Church. She enjoyed being a part of the Sisters of the Savior group and was very involved in the outreach ministries of Ebenezer UMC. Ms. Boan enjoyed painting and had a very special place in her heart for animals, and was affectionately known as the “dog-sitter.”

In addition to her parents, Ms. Boan was also preceded in death by her brother, John Gary Rhynes; and brother-in-law, Donald Tyner.

Survivors include her sister, Susan R. Tyner of Morven, NC; sister-in-law, Terry T. Rhynes of Wallace, SC; nephews, Tim (Kim) Tyner of Lilesville, NC, and Mitchell Tyner of Morven, NC; great niece, Reagan; and great nephew, Griffin; and a host of cousins.
