Mary Rachel Nicholson Sims

Mrs. Mary Rachel Nicholson Sims, age 89, of Jefferson, South Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday evening, June 21, 2025, at Cheraw Healthcare.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Bethel Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Curtis Laney, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Monday, June 23, 2025 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

Born on August 8, 1935, in Mt. Croghan, South Carolina, she was the daughter of McCoy C. "Mack Coy" and Minnie Blanche Summerford Nicholson. Mrs. Sims was a retired employee of Challenger Industries and a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church.

A lady who never met a stranger, Rachel enjoyed visiting with family and friends always bringing joy to those around her. She also enjoyed traveling and pretending to be “Minnie Pearl.” She had a special place in heart for her cats.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, David Sims.

She is survived by her cousins, Jimmy Moore of Pageland, SC, and Kay Gulledge of Mt. Croghan, SC, as well as caregivers Linda Nicholson and Patricia Johnson of Ruby, SC, along with extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and caregivers at Cheraw Healthcare for the compassionate care they provided to Mrs. Rachel throughout the years.
