Chesterfield, SC - Ms. Mary Jo Smith Hall, age 61, passed away peacefully at her home on September 5, 2025. Funeral services will be 4:00 PM Monday, September 8, 2025 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Reverend Kenneth Lindsey and Brent Taylor with burial to follow in the Elizabeth Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 3:00 – 4:00 PM Monday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Born on July 1, 1964, in Pageland, SC, Ms. Hall was the daughter of the late Donald Calvin and Mary Smith. She had a valued career as a former employee at Morris Used Cars, Grits and Grocery, and Stroud and Save. An exceptional mother, she prioritized the well-being of her children, Kevin and Kristen, throughout the good times and bad. She loved her in-laws as parents and was attentive to them until their passing. She and her sister-in-law Bonnie were especially close and shared a lot of good times together. Above all, she loved her children, Kevin and Kristen with all her heart.
Mary Jo enjoyed traveling, dining out, and relaxing watching her favorite television channels, The Food Network and HGTV.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Hall was also preceded in death by the father of her children, Christopher “Chris” L. Hall; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Otis and Frances Hall; brothers-in-law, Ronnie Hall, Randy (Debbie) Hall, Larry Hall, Mike Hall, and Darrell Hall; sister-in-law, Nancy Owen; sister-in-law and close friend, Bonnie Braddock; nephews, Dewayne Hall, Donald Mauldin, David Braddock; and niece, Darlene Breaux.
She is survived by her children, Kristen Lynn Hall (Rusty Fender) of Pageland, SC, and Kevin Lee Hall of Chesterfield, SC; a brother, Don Calvin Smith, Jr. of Macon, GA; sisters-in-law, Elaine Maree of Morven, NC, Eleanor (Howell) Mauldin of Tignall, GA, Lucy (Howard) Mauldin of Harvey, LA, and Carol Lee Hall of Cheraw, SC; brother-in-law, Rodney (Teresa) Hall of Monroe, NC; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Biester and the staff at CareSouth Carolina, as well as the team from Gentiva Hospice of Chesterfield, for the compassionate care given to Ms. Hall and their family.
