Marion Leroy "Buddie" Moore (SCNG RET)

Cheraw, SC

Mr. Marion Leroy “Buddie” Moore, (SCNG RET) age 90, entered into rest on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 with his family by his side. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church by Pastor Marty Nason, Rev. Fred McDaniel, and Brent Taylor. Burial services with full military honors will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 PM Friday, November 29, 2019 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

Mr. Moore was born September 16, 1929 in Cheraw, SC a son of the late Preston C. and Aliene Brigman Moore. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, and a retired Sergeant First Class with the S.C. Army National Guard serving 28 years. Mr. Moore was a former employee of McBride’s Market with over 28 years of service, and retired from Cheraw IGA. A life-long member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Buddie served as former Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher, choir member, member of the church administrative council, and was very active in the annual church BBQ. Mr. Moore was a true sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching NASCAR and the Atlanta Braves.

In addition to his parents, Buddie was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Mary Ruth White Moore on January 20, 2017; son, John Preston Moore; and 4 siblings.

Survivors include his 2 daughters, Mary Elizabeth Mumford and husband, R.D., and Susan King and husband, John both of Chesterfield, SC; Grandchildren, Matthew Moore Younger of Pensacola, FL, Kelly Younger Aristiguieta and husband, Carlos of Atlanta, GA, Christopher King of Columbia, SC and Will King of Chesterfield, SC; and great grandson, Alex Aristiguieta.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to special caregiver and “member of the family,” Marilyn Marshall for the excellent love and care shown to Mr. Moore and his family.

Special thanks are also noted for the staff of Chesterfield County Council on Aging for their assistance to Mr. Moore over the past few years and the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Chesterfield County Council on Aging, P.O. Box 45, Chesterfield, SC 29709.
