Chesterfield, SC Mrs. Margie Rayfield Gaskins, age 86, entered into rest on Sunday, April 5, 2026 with her husband by her side. The Celebration of Life service will be 2:00 PM Friday, April 10, 2026 from the chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Pastor Jeff Gardner and Reverend Fred McDaniel with the eulogy being delivered by Mike Caskey. The burial will follow in the Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home.


Mrs. Gaskins was born November 13, 1939 in Chesterfield, SC a daughter of the late James Pruitte Rayfield and Rosa Mae Vaughn Rayfield. She was a graduate of Chesterfield High School and an employee of First Citizens Bank where she served and loved her customers for over 50 years. A faithful member of Shiloh Methodist Church, Margie was a member of the New Hope Sunday School Class, and had previously served on the Pastor – Parrish Committee, Lay Leadership Committee, Finance Committee, and Nurture Committee.


Mrs. Gaskins was active in the community working with various organizations. She served as chairman of March of Dimes Walk America for 15 years and was inducted into the Walk America “Hall of Fame” for her dedicated service. She previously served on the First Steps Board, was a past member and officer of the Chesterfield Civic Club, past member of the Historic Society and served on the Town of Chesterfield Architectural Review Board. She was an avid fan and supporter of the Chesterfield Rams. She was also a past member of the “Razzle Dazzle Red Hatters” and a member of the Tuesday Luncheon Bridge Club.


She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Monroe Gaskins; daughter, Julia Gaskins Childers and husband, Edward of Simpsonville, SC; grandson, Shane Childers of Simpsonville, SC; great granddaughter, Claire Childers; sisters, Bonnie R. Rollins and husband, Calvin of Ruby, SC, Rose Etta Schumacher and husband, Bill of Chesterfield, SC and Port Austin, MI; brothers, Gerald P. Rayfield of Patrick, SC, Charles B. Rayfield and wife, Dawn of Cheraw, SC; granddaughter of the heart, Kinsley Jaclyn Hardwick.


In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gaskins was also preceded in death by her brothers, James Murray Rayfield, Jadie Carl Rayfield, and Donald Joe Rayfield; sister, Evelena Rayfield; son-in-law, David McIntosh; and grandson, Ethan Monroe Childers.
