Madge "Evelyn" Crowley Sellers McLain

Patrick, SC

          Mrs. Madge “Evelyn” Crowley Sellers McLain, age 92, went home to be with the Lord on Monday evening, June 19, 2023 surrounded by her family as they played her late daughter Ann singing, Take me to Jesus. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Patrick Baptist Church by Pastor Grover Johnson. The family will greet friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

          The committal service will be 3:00 PM Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens, Columbia, SC, officiated by Pastor Chad Vick.

          Mrs. McLain was born January 26, 1931 in Patrick, SC a daughter of the late Fencless and Minnie Boan Crowley. She was a retired employee of The Shakespeare Company with 23 years of service. Evelyn was a faithful member of Patrick Baptist Church and a former member of Crescent Hill Baptist Church of Columbia. A devout Christian lady, Mrs. McLain loved the Lord, her church, and her family deeply. She enjoyed working in her yard, gardening, and could grow anything.

          In addition to her parents, Mrs. McLain was also preceded by her husbands, Roy McLain, and Ernest Sellers; daughter, Ann S. Perdue; brothers, Hildreth Crowley, J.L. Crowley, John A. Crowley, J.C. Crowley, and Kenny Crowley; sons-in-law, Johnny Jordan, and Jimmy Perdue; and daughter-in-law, Susie Sellers.

          Survivors include her children, Doris (Tony) Quick of Camden, SC, Dean Sellers of Hartsville, SC, Jan (Tim) Harris of Chesterfield, SC, Jessie (Linda) Sellers of Patrick, SC, and Peggy (Chuck) Norman of Patrick, SC. Mrs. McLain was tremendously blessed with numerous grandchildren that spanned 3 generations of whom she was very proud. She is also survived by 2 sisters, Janie Young of Camden, SC, and Cornelia Crenshaw of Hartsville, SC, in addition to generations of nieces and nephews.
