Cheraw, SC – Mrs. Linda McPherson Smith, age 73, peacefully entered into rest on Thursday, October 23, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home. Reverend Donald Wallace, Sr. will officiate the service, with a eulogy delivered by her daughter, Rhonda Stokes. Following the service, entombment will take place at Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, with Pastor Darrell Hatchell officiating the committal service.
The family will greet friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home, and also at the home of Bill and Rhonda Stokes located at 1186 Hunts Mill Rd., Chesterfield, SC.
Mrs. Smith was born at home on October 6, 1952, in Cheraw, SC, to Christene Eve Threadgill McPherson and the late Charles Hurt McPherson. She was a graduate of Cheraw High School and a retired administrative assistant with South Carolina Electric & Gas. A faithful Christian lady, Linda enjoyed attending Westside Baptist Church. Mrs. Smith cherished her family and was very proud of her children and their achievements. She was also known for her exceptional talent in cross stitching, having gifted beautiful baby blankets to many of her grandchildren. As “Granny,” she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her father, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her grandson, Trace Shipley.
Her memory will be cherished by her loving husband, Douglas Smith; daughters, Melinda (Dustin) Slider of Charleston, SC, Belinda (Craig) McGilvray of Florence, SC, Rhonda (Bill) Stokes of Chesterfield, SC, and Tracie (Scott) Douglas of Society Hill, SC; and her mother, Christene Eve Threadgill McPherson of Cheraw, SC.
Mrs. Smith is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Bo (Erica) Stokes, Christian Stokes (Jordan) Lisenby, Bryce (Bailey) Shipley, Anaclaire (Trent) Burr, Carley Douglas, Tucker Douglas, Carson Douglas, Alana Yarborough, Bradley McGilvray, Ethan Presnell, and Jacob Slider; and great-grandchildren, Sofia Wallace, Jimmy Wallace, Sawyer Stokes, Bleu Shipley, Bayden Shipley, and Stokes Lisenby. She is additionally survived by her sisters, Brenda (George) McLaurin of Cheraw, SC, and Tammie (Pastor Darrell) Hatchell of Granite Falls, NC, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Liz Griggs, Layne Rogerson, Brandi Owens, Mackenzie Catoe, Bobbi Nutt, and the entire staff of McLeod Hospice of Cheraw for their compassionate care.
