Mrs. Linda Darlene Conley Carter, age 72, of Patrick, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on the evening of November 16, 2025 at MUSC Florence Medical Center.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 1:00 PM from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder, officiated by Minister Eric McCreary. Following the service, Mrs. Carter will be laid to rest in the Grace and Mercy Worship Center Cemetery, (previously known as Bethesda UMC Cemetery.) The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.
Born on December 31, 1952, in Zanesville, Ohio, Linda was the daughter of the late Ralph Woodrow and Pansy Flaherty Conley. She dedicated over 25 years of her career as an administrative assistant with the Chesterfield County School District – Ruby Operations and was a devoted member of the Hartsville Church of Christ.
A lady who loved her family deeply, Linda enjoyed cooking for her family and was known for her chicken and dumplings. She was also an avid reader and writer, having written multiple short stories. A lady who never met a stranger, Linda enjoyed talking on the phone with her family and friends. Notably, she was a long-term liver transplant survivor, celebrating 14 years of health following her surgery. Linda looked forward with great joy to the arrival of her first granddaughter in May 2026.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Hendrickson, and her infant sister, Patty Crowley.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Freddie Carter; her children, Toni Carter of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Chris (Megan) Carter of Cheraw, South Carolina; her sister, Jane Crowley of Parkersburg, West Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Liver Foundation (www.liverfoundation.org) or to a humane society of one’s choice.
