Mrs. Lexie Jean Lewis, a dementia awareness advocate and warrior, passed away at the age of 77 at her home on Saturday evening, December 20, 2025 with her loving family by her side. A private family graveside service will be held. The family respectfully requests no visitors at the home during this time, but welcomes you to share memories of Mrs. Lewis on the MRC Funeral Home webpage. Mrs. Lewis, affectionately and known worldwide as “Lady Lexie” was born on December 27, 1947 in Chesterfield, SC. She was a daughter of the late Melvin and Doris Polson. Mrs. Lewis was a graduate of Chesterfield High School and later completed classes with NETC of Cheraw, SC. Known affectionately as “Lady Lexie,” she gained recognition on social media for her insightful videos that helped individuals navigate the challenges of traveling with dementia. Mrs. Lewis embraced life fully, finding joy in music, spending time on her beloved farm, gardening, and traveling whether on a cruise, road trip, or visiting the national parks with her daughter. During her visits to Fort Worth, Texas, she became a valued attendee of the First United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ervin and Celia Tarlton Williams; brothers, Ronald Lee Polson and Melvin Eugene Polson; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Maggie Lee and John Frank Lewis.
Survivors include her devoted husband, Jerry C. Lewis of the home; daughter, D.J. Lewis of Fort Worth, TX.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Gentiva Hospice, and especially Madison Lewis, Shelia Crump, Mcinnus White, Rebecca Williamson, and Dr. Christina Biester, for going above and beyond in their care and support of Mrs. Lewis. Additionally, the family expresses their appreciation to Mr. Jack Hurst for his help and friendship.
