HISTORY: Miss Smothers was born September 6, 1957 in Mt. Croghan, SC a daughter of the late George Washington and Mary Lee Jenkins Smothers. She was a former textile employee and a member of Harmony Community Church. Joyce loved and enjoyed riding her horses, she loved her puppies, and being outdoors. She also loved and enjoyed spending time with her family.

3 Brothers: Thomas (Birdie) Smothers of Pineville, NC, Jim Smothers of Fort Mill, SC, and Lindsey (Marie) Smothers of Lilesville, NC
3 Sisters: Mary (Ralph) Tarlton of Marshville, NC, Margaret Heavener of Lincolnton, NC, and Brenda Benton of the home
Also: a number of nieces and nephews
