Mr. Joseph “Joe” B. Carter, age 66, entered into rest on Monday, April 9, 2018 at his home. Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, April 12, 2018 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Pastor Bobby Morton and Rev. Rocky Tyner. The graveside service will be 3:00 PM Thursday afternoon at Holly Hill Cemetery, 401 W. Holly Hill Rd., Thomasville, NC 27360. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home, 318 E. Main Street, Chesterfield, SC 29709.

Mr. Carter was born October 3, 1951 in Chesterfield, SC a son of the late John and Anna Thelma Crowley Carter. He was a retired employee of INA USA and a faithful member of Southern Grace Church. An avid outdoorsman, Joe enjoyed fishing and gardening. He loved meeting people and had a special place in his heart for children.

In addition to his parents, Joe was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Buck and Carson Carter; brother-in-law, Dan Brown; and 1 infant sister.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Joyce Carter of the home; 2 children, Linda (Jim) Moore of Fairfax, VA, and Janet Elliott of High Point, NC; siblings, Jack (Nancy) Carter of Trinity, NC, Cecil (Dorothy) Carter of Asheboro, NC, Carlos (Willie Mae) Carter, Freddie (Linda) Carter, Barbara (Grover) Dixon, and Edith Brown all of Patrick, SC; step-brothers, Donald (Libby) Jordan, and Wayne (Jean) Jordan both of Hartsville, SC; sister-in-law, Novella Carter of Seagrove, NC; also numerous nieces and nephews.

The family requests that memorials be made to Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home, 318 E. Main Street, Chesterfield, SC 29709 to assist the family.
