John Samuel (Sammy) Ingram


John Samuel (Sammy) Ingram, age 83, entered into rest on April 18, 2025 in Richmond, VA. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. Pastor Charles E. Teal will officiate. The burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM Saturday, prior to the service at the church.


Sammy was born November 20, 1941 in Norfolk, VA to the late Hoyt B. Ingram, Sr. and Marjorie Stone. He was raised by his late grandmother, Aliene Brigman Ingram Moore.


Sammy loved life and making people smile. He was a graduate of Cheraw High School. Sammy spent his career working in textiles, as an electrician, and restaurant owner. He served in the US Army and the Air National Guard for over 30 years.


Sammy lived life to the fullest by visiting family, sailing, fishing, and visiting his neighbors. The most joy he had was sitting on his balcony / porch of his home in Heathsville, VA overlooking Ingram Bay. He enjoyed the beautiful sunrises and sunsets in the most peaceful, beautiful place he could be.


In addition to his parents, Sammy was preceded in death by his sister, Katrina Ingram Burr and stepmother, Gladys Griffin Ingram.


Survivors include his sisters, Peggy Holt of Richmond, VA, Janice Griffith (Dave) of Cheraw, SC, and his brother, Hoyt B. (Jonelle) Ingram, Jr. of Chesterfield, SC, Janet Tsimbos his lifetime partner of Heathsville, VA; in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
