Mr. John C. "Jack" Parker, Jr., age 84, of Patrick, South Carolina, peacefully passed away on the evening of July 17, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his beloved family. The family will host a private memorial service at a later date.
Mr. Parker was born on January 26, 1941 in Wilkes-Barre, PA. He was a son of the late John Charles Parker, Sr. and Mary Janet (Moser) Parker. “Jack”, as he was affectionately known by, was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served his country for 4 years. During his earlier days, Mr. Parker served as a deacon in the Episcopal Church and enjoyed attending St. David's Episcopal Church in Cheraw, SC. Mr. Parker was also a proud graduate of Millersville University of Pennsylvania. For most of his lifetime, he was self-employed and taught others the art of woodworking. Most notably, he was recently awarded the highest civilian honor in the state of South Carolina, “The Order of the Palmetto,” in recognition of his unwavering dedication to researching and documenting every known Revolutionary War event and site in the state, as well as for authoring the book “Parker's Guide to the Revolutionary War in South Carolina.” But more than this, Jack was also a proud grandfather who cherished his time spent with his grandchildren.
Mr. Parker is survived by his wife of the home, Gladys Parker; sons, John (Katie) Parker, III of McClellanville, SC and Scot (Dawn) Parker of Offild, PA; step-son, Mark (Lisa) Carver of Patrick, SC; 6 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; brother, Tom Parker; sister, Mary Parker; and granddaughter of the heart, Holly Fortenberry.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all of the doctors, nurses and staff of Gentiva Hospice for their exceptional care of Mr. Parker.
