Mr. Joe "Papa Joe" E. Stafford, age 72, of Cheraw, South Carolina, entered into rest on March 3, 2026. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 2:00 in the chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Jamie Gulledge, along with Mr. Joe’s daughter, Jennifer, delivering the eulogy. The family will greet friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Stafford was born on November 25, 1953, in Chesterfield County, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Leon Miller and Addie Belle Rivers Stafford.
Joe was a dedicated and hardworking man who devoted nearly 30 years to his career as a heavy-duty mechanic with Furr Grading and Paving. He was also a faithful and cherished member of Brocks Mill Baptist Church.
Joe had a deep love for the outdoors and could often be found tinkering in his shop. A true craftsman, he had a special talent for creating unique works of art from wood and metal. Above all else, his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, who loved him dearly and deemed him his favorite title, “Papa Joe.”
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Charles M. Stafford, Alvin J. Stafford, as well as his sister, Sarah (Sue) Blackwell, and his beloved wife, Cindy L. Stafford.
Survivors include his three daughters, Joanna (Ken) Brock of Chesterfield, SC, Jennifer (Chris) Flowers of Florence, SC, Joni (Don) Marsh of Cheraw, SC, and special son of the home, Dameon Burgess; grandchildren, Jase Stafford, Joshua Bittle, Kendall Brock, Eli Flowers, Hannah (Taylor) S. Williams, Jody Streater, Jr., and Thomas Streater; great-grandchildren, Sarah Walls and Brenley Chase Williams; brother, Steve (Mary Alice) Stafford; sister, Linda S. Charles (Dave) Price; brother-in-law, Gandhi Blackwell; sister-in-law, Chrstine Stafford; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, Victoria, Jessica, and Antoinette, as well as Dr. Kevin Martin of PTCU Mcleod for their exceptional care of Mr. Stafford.
