James Marion "Jay" Oliver, Jr.

Chesterfield, SC

Mr. James Marion (Jay) Oliver, Jr., age 67, entered into rest on Wednesday, May 25, 2022. In lieu of a traditional funeral, it was Jay’s wish to have a casual visitation at home where friends and family could enjoy fellowship while laughing and reminiscing. The family will greet friends between the hours of 4:00 – 7:00 PM Friday, May 27, 2022 at the home of Wayne & Nancy Eddins, 4664 Bear Creek Rd., Chesterfield, SC. Upon Judy's departure from her earthly life the two will have their ashes joined so that they can be together once again.

Mr. Oliver was born August 11, 1954 in Wadesboro, NC a son of the late Marion and Dottie Ballard Oliver. He was a retired employee of Ina Bearing / Schaeffler Group with 38 years of service. He also served on the Chesterfield Town Council from 2006 – 2019 and was a proud supporter of the Greater Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce.

Jay will be remembered for his infectious smile, his love for life, and his love for a really cold Natural Light with his many friends and family in Chesterfield, Murrells Inlet, and Camden. He looked forward to playing golf with these same special friends. He especially enjoyed spending time with his best buddy, Mr. Bill Curtis at “The Barn.”

His greatest love and joy were his family. His high school sweetheart and wife of 48 years, Judy. Most of the time, if you saw one, you saw the other. Time together is what they enjoyed most. His pride and joy were his two daughters, his son (in-law) and his three precious grandchildren. Time with them was like a big dose of medicine.

Survivors include his wife, Judy of the home; daughters, Rebekah Oliver of Chesterfield, SC, Carol (Justin) Truesdale of Camden, SC; grandchildren, Cade, Reid, and Stella Truesdale; siblings, Ann (Roby) Moore, Edward (Karen) Oliver, Bunk (Russell) Lindsey, Samp Morton, Jackie Gaskins, Wayne & Nancy Eddins, and Jane & Gary Hogan.

He was preceded in death by siblings, Ginger Oliver Morton, Tom Oliver, Phil Oliver, and Bo Gaskins.

Memorials can be made online in Jay's memory to the American Heart Association at heart.org.

Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home (www.mrcfuneralhome.com) of Chesterfield, SC is serving the Oliver family.
